Meet The Counselor
Aniela (Nellie) Scanlon, M.Ed., NCC, LPC
Aniela (Nellie) Scanlon is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Pennsylvania. Nellie received her Master's in Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002. She is also a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). Nellie has over 15 years of experience counseling teens, adults, couples, and families. She is currently working on her Doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision at Duquesne University.
Nellie uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Techniques, which means the focus on how thoughts lead to feelings and feelings lead to certain behaviors or actions in a person. She creates a warm and safe environment by understanding that the counseling process is different for every individual.
Nellie believes that in order to make a change, the individual must first find hope. Then gain some understanding into his or her own situation. Eventually the individual discovers that change is possible.
